DRUG TITLE Antabuse (Disulfiram) This medication is used to treat alcoholism. The drug is not a cure for alcoholism and must be used in combination with supportive therapy and counseling. This drug should never be used without the knowledge of man. Take it orally, usually one or two tablets a day as directed by the physician. The tablets may be crushed or mixed with liquid if there are problems with swallowing. Do not take this medicine for at least 12 hours after drinking alcohol. SIDE EFFECTS This medication may cause headache, drowsiness, anxiety, skin rashes, acne, garlic taste in your mouth, blurred vision. Tell your doctor if any of these effects persists or worsens. Not likely to happen, but immediately report: tingling hands or feet, fatigue, weakness, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, severe abdominal pain, dark urine, yellowing eyes or skin.
